Hello, I am new here and hope that someone can help me.
I am unsure of what to do from here. I have read through the "Read and Run Me First" thread. I did everything that was asked, and proceeded to the winxp cleaning procedure.

When I ran Malwarebytes it found 1 issue. I attached the log to this post. I did as Malwarebytes instructed, by cleaning and rebooting so it could continue to remove the threat. After I rebooted I ran the next process, combofix.

When I started combofix everything went as explained until the blue screen that stated it was checking for issues came up. It stayed up for about 3 minutes and then it just closed. No log, no steps 1-50 were shown, nothing.

    Any help is appreciated!

    Thank you,
    -Joe-

My apologies, I never posted why I think there is malware on my computer. Its because I noticed multiple Iexplore.exe processes running in task manager even though I was not running IE. I was also hearing ads but not seeing anything. And my volume would lower itself by itself.

After reading through the forums a bit I see that there might be an issue with my MBR so I downloaded the MBRcheck and attached the log here too.

What happened with SUPERantispyware?? Did you run that?

What about MGTools? Did you run that?

Run them if you have not done so already and attach the logs they create.

    Also:

    • Download bootkit_remover.rar
    • Click the underlined DOWNLOAD text to download the file and save it to your Desktop.
    • You then need to extract the remover.exe file from the RAR using a program capable of extracing RAR compressed files. If you don't have an extraction program, you can use 7-Zip
    • After extracing remover.exe to your Desktop, double click the remover.exe file to run the program.
    • Attach or post inline here, the output from remover.exe
NOTE: The Command Prompt window text can be copied to the clip board by right clicking on the top bar of the window and using the Edit commands to Mark, Copy, and Paste.

    Thank you for the response.

Ok, I did run SuperAS sorry I didnt mention that. I also ran Malwarebytes as stated.

I finally got combofix to run in safe mode with networking. Same for MGtools in safe mode with networking.

I attached all the logs here. I still cannot get either combofix or MGtools to run in normal mode. They both just shut down shortly after initializing.

I didnt run bootkit_remover.rar yet. Seeing as though I did get the other programs to run I wanted to wait for your advice after reading my logs weather or not I should still do bootkit_remover or not.

Thanks again for taking the time to help me. I can only imagine how tedious this type of volunteer work can be.

    Java(TM) 6 Update 18 <--- Uninstall this outdated Java:

Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    After clicking Fix exit HJT.

Now we need to use ComboFix
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box. Ensure you scroll down to select ALL the lines:
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    DirLook::
    c:\documents and settings\All Users\Application Data\{DB4D1CE1-2C91-4C77-8322-3466A05028AA}
    C:\Program Files\iWonEI
    c:\documents and settings\Administrator\Application Data\Moyea
    File::
    c:\windows\system32\SET1B4.tmp
    c:\windows\system32\SET1A3.tmp
    c:\windows\system32\SET193.tmp
    c:\windows\system32\SET1A7.tmp
    c:\windows\system32\SET197.tmp
    c:\windows\system32\SET187.tmp
    c:\windows\DUMP468e.tmp
    c:\windows\DUMP4da3.tmp
    c:\windows\DUMP5709.tmp

    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe

    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below

    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Reboot your machine and install the most current and up to date version of Java available here at the below link:

    Java Runtime 6

Yes run Bootkit Remover now as previously instructed.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

Let me know how things are running now.

That log you attached was not the correct log from running bootkit remover, here is an example of what I should be seeing:

    Delete these folders:

    • c:\program files\iWonEI
    • c:\documents and settings\Administrator\Application Data\Moyea

Let me know they deleted ok. Also attach the correct log from Bootkitremover or screenshot the results for me.

Sorry about that, I dont know why the log that bootkit remover generates looks like that... :confused

Anyway, here is a screen shot of the results from bootkit remover.

And I deleted those 2 files.

I'll run one more check when you attach new logs:

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

    All set!!

Everything is running perfectly!! In my add remove programs however I cannot find Hijackthis as a program installed :confused

    Otherwise everything is running perfectly!!

I cant thank you enough for all your time and effort. I really appreciate it!
