can't enter bios stuck at splash screen

i have this dell dimension 3000 that i just tried to put a slave ide hard drive in, it wasn't picking anything up so i went into the bios to tell it to detect a slave drive nothing happened. now i get the splash screen that doesn't change and i can't enter setup,

when i did get f2 to go through it didn't go into setup instead it presented me with an error that said there was a keyboard failure what the heck is up with this how do i get it to go past the splash screen and into the bios so i can fix what i did, or is there at least a way to reset the entire motherboard without turning it on. is there like a little battery on it that when removed, everything goes back to the way it was?

i really need this thing to be fixed alot of people are going to be mad when they can't use this thing anymore :banghead

 

A couple of things:

No keyboard will halt POST/BIOS operations on a lot of motherboards so make sure the keyboard connection at the back of the PC didn't get loosened while you moving things around.

Have you tried disconnecting the IDE slave drive and seeing if things go back to normal?

Resetting the BIOS should just be a matter of unplugging the machine and removing the coin-shaped, quarter dollar shaped battery for a minute or so. Then putting the battery back and plugging in and rebooting. (probably a little spring clip around the edge of the battery that should be pressed to release it) You should be prompted to set date and time in BIOS.
