Can't Get Rid of Desktop Background

    We have an HP running WinXP. Desktop background suddenly changed to a "Spyware alert" and we can't get rid of it. Tried removing the file, now we have a white background. Tried to go to Control Panel\Displays and change it there, but no matter where I change to it still is overridden by our new "White" Screen.

    Can anyone point me in the right direction to get rid of this?

    I would suggest the Malware Forum, but in the meantime,

    Is that Spyware Alert program listed in Add/Remove? If so, uninstall it.

    Go to Control Panel, Display then Desktop.

    Click Customize Desktop, then Web tab.

    If you see an entry called Spware whatever, or something similar, select and click Delete, then OK and Apply.
