Can't logon to laptop after doing something stupid

Story:
1. I was at work and plugged my notebook into an Ethernet there to gain access to the interweb
2. Everything working fine.
3. Tried to log off – it hung at logging off.
4. Tried to get back on – it hung at logging on.
5. I had done this before and the same thing happened – it took awhile for it to do whatever it did, so I didn’t make the correlation, so I did it again.
6. System restore fixed it last time

Facts:
1. Government server with secure logon, etc.
2. I’m running Windows 7 – every other pc on that server is running Windows XP (have no idea if that has anything to do with anything)
3. :crybaby
4. I can only log on to my notebook in safe mode.
5. It hangs at log on AND log off
6. I have to use the power button to get it to power off

Things already tried:
1. System Restore
2. System restore to a farther back restore point

Tried the ipcofig yet? You might open a cmd prompt, run ipconfig /release (or even ipcong /dnsflush) and ipconfig /renew.

If that doesn't work, take a snapshot of an ipconfig /all, post it here so we can make sure nothing's screwy with your addresses, masks, etc..

 

Working like a charm. I have restarted x3 to be certain.
