Can't read grayed boxes

    I don't know if this is a Windows 7 or Word 2010 problem, but all boxes are grayed out and I can't read them. Attached is a Word doc that shows the problem. I've tried many times in Metrics/Personalize/Appearance, etc., to see if any boxes and fonts have been set in gray box and white font but don't see any setting like that. Your ideas will be greatly appreciated. ec
