Can't reinstall cod2. Was not uninstalled right, and used ccleaner reg cleaner and

I'm trying to help a friend reinstall cod2, but when he tries, it always comes up this the uninstall Screen. When he clicks on the uninstall button it just goes to desktop. When he went to uninstall it he just deleted folders and didn't use the uninstall option. I had him use the ccleaner registry cleaner. I also had him do a search on files and folders marked cod2 and them delete them. I didn't help, the screen still comes up for uninstalling the game. Any ideas on what has to be done?
