    Hi all,
After 7 years of having this computer I'm cleaning house on it :) and giving it to my Dad, who'd like to have it for web surfing, pictures, etc.
I thought I got just about everything, but noticed this annoying "Dynamic Targeting Fruttinet" in the control panel that I can't get rid of. When I go to uninstall it, it wants a "code", so I stopped short of doing anything with it. Then I worried what else it might be messing with. And I found MajorGeeks!!!!

I have WinXP Pro SP3, Intel Core 2 T5200 @ 1.60GHz. I imagine that just means "old" :p. I LOVE WinXP, and am sad to let it go.

Can you all help me get rid of this Fruttinet?? And has it affected other things....there may be other junk to get rid of now. THANK YOU so much for all your help. So here's my stuff:

    1. Ran CCleaner, including Cookies.
    2. Ran RogueKiller, and it seemed to find some hooked things, and I was really, REALLY temped to make it fix it, but I didn’t!!
    3. Ran MalwareBytes. I had this program already, and just upgraded it, but it says that it’s not finding anything.
    4. Ran TDSSSKiller.
    5. Ran HitmanPro.
    6. Then the MGTools.

I really appreciate your help, thank you so much!

Before we continue I would like for you to use MSConfig to put this machine back into normal start up mode.

    Uninstall the below:

    • J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
    • Viewpoint Media Player

    They are fine.

    [IMG] Fix items using RogueKiller.

Double-click RogueKiller.exe to run. (Vista/7/8 right-click and select Run as Administrator)
When it opens, press the Scan button
Now click the Registry tab and locate this detection:

    • [V1][SUSP PATH] At1.job : C:\DOCUME~1\SHELLI~1\APPLIC~1\DSite\UPDATE~1\UPDATE~1.EXE - /Check [x] -> FOUND

Place a checkmark next to this item, leave the others unchecked.
    Now press the Delete button.
When it is finished, there will be a log on your desktop called: RKreport[2].txt
Attach RKreport[2].txt to your next message. (How to attach)
    Reboot the machine.

Re run Hitman Pro and have it remove all that it finds.

    Download and run OTM.

Download OTM by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.

    • Right-click OTM.exe And select " Run as administrator " to run it.
    • Paste the following code under the [IMG] area. Do not include the word Code.

    Code:
    :Files
    C:\Program Files\USTechSupport
    C:\WINDOWS\Tasks\At1.job
    C:\DOCUME~1\SHELLI~1\APPLIC~1\DSite

    :reg
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentVersion\Run]
    "MaxMySpeed PC Optimizer"=-
    [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes\{3444598C-CA71-4DDD-B2C0-3C499B0E5471}]
    [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes\{3444598C-CA71-4DDD-B2C0-3C499B0E5471}\Non-Matches]
    [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes\{43F990A4-5261-443B-8F2F-28C37BBBEB98}]
    [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes\{ABD93EAF-D775-BC54-E63B-2804F22FD156}]

    :Commands
    [emptytemp]
    [Reboot]
    • Return to OTM, right click in the Paste List of Files/Folders to Move window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
    • Push the large [IMG] button.
    • OTM may ask to reboot the machine. Please do so if asked.
    • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar), and paste it into a text file to ATTACH into your next reply.

NOTE: If you are unable to copy/paste from this window (as will be the case if the machine was rebooted), open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and attach the contents of that document back here in your next post.

Install the most current and up to date version of Java available here at the below link:

    Java Runtime

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista, Windows7 or Win8) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

Let me know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now!

    Hi! :)

Ok, I did msconfig and went to normal mode.
Uninstalled J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6 and Viewpoint Media Player.
Deleted the [SUSP PATH] in RogueKiller (txt file attached).
    Rebooted.
Reran Hitman Pro and had it remove the things it found.

I got to the point of downloading OTM to the desktop, pasting the code into the Items to be Moved area (under yellow box), clicked Move It button, then that's where it goes awry.

After I click Move It, all the desktop icons, start button and task bar disappear, and OTM locks up into Not Responding mode. I tried a couple of times, and even left it 'not responding' all night last night - LOL - to see if it would come around. I've stopped at this point, I'm not sure if I've done something wrong.

Thank you sooooo much for your help!!

Just do this so I can see what's left to do:

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista, Windows7 or Win8) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

Replace the OTM step with all this:

    Delete these:

    • C:\Documents and Settings\Shellie Spero\Local Settings\Application Data\AtStart.txt
    • C:\Documents and Settings\Shellie Spero\Local Settings\Application Data\StartNow

Now Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.

Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

Now just continue on after the OTM step onwards.

Ok, thank you! I did get a success message adding to the registry.

I'm getting an error message for installing Java - "The procedure entry point RegDeleteKeyExA could not be located in the dynamic link library ADVAP132.dll."

I saw in the comments for the download that for WinXP to go to the official site and download update 7 version 55.

Is it ok for me to go ahead and do that instead? Thanks so much.

Great! Installed Java, there are a few notepad entries it left on the desktop, so I attached those. And I attached the new MGlogs.zip file. I checked the control panel to see if the Dynamic Targeting Fruttinet is still there, and it is - wants a code to uninstall.

And again, thank you so much!! And happy early Easter!

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others) and running MGclean.bat did not remove them, you can delete these files now.
    3. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    4. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    5. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.

    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
