I have a Dell Inspion 600M with Intel Pentium M 1.5 GHz 512 RAM 37.2 GB Hard drive with 29.8 free. Runs with Windows XP Professional version 2002 with Service pack 2.

When I try to shut down I get a box for ccApp End Program. Whether I end now or ot makes no difference. My computer will then either lock upor take 5 minutes to shut off. I have followed your instructions for all the spyware, etc. Interestingly, when I would jtry to update the downloads of spybot, adware, etc., the system would lock up. However, when I did the updates in Safe Mode it wouldn't lock up.
I am attaching a copy of the HijackThis log as instructed.

I also did the ewido security suite in addition to the others. Please help me.

Thanks for your help, but unfortunately, that didn't fix the problem. I don't get the ccApp, but it still takes 5 minutes for my system to shut down unless I am running in Safe Mode. I did run a virus scan when all this started and it said a Trojan.Tooso had been removed, but no other information about it. Susequent virus and trojan scans have been negative. Any thoughts. Also, when I would try to update Spybot etc the system freezes.

Tooso has a few forms. Here are a couple:

You may want to try doing the below! Do this while your PC is completely disconnected (unplug cable) from the internet.

    1) uninstall Symantec software
    2) reboot
    3) now check to see if you have any problems shutting down
    4) if not then reinstall your Symantec software and see what happens now.
    5) if you still had problems at step 3, perhaps something else is the problem and not Symantec

At any rate get you Symantec AV reinstalled before reconnecting to the Internet.
Now come back and tell me what happened.
