Anybody know of any software (preferably free) to convert a music cd to MP3 or WAV?

Exact Audio Copy w/ LAME encoder... Takes a while to get used to, but this is the BEST way to rip CDs

    What makes EAC so good?

As far as the LAME codec, that's really nothing to write home about. Ogg Vorbis has better quality, IMX.

    CDex uses Lame too...

Well, LAME is OSS, so everybody uses it. :)

Hey i love ogg, it's just that nobody else really uses it... including my new Nomad Zen HD player... As for EAC, it has the best error correction and compatability with CD players that I've seen. Admittedly, i have not used CDex, so maybe I'll give it a whirl.
