Clock will not synchronize

Hi Geeks!

My clock will no longer synchronize with Nist or Windows. I've recently switched to Firefox browser and am using ZoneAlarm. I tried disabling the ZoneAlarm firewall and going back to Windows firewall, but this makes no difference. I rely on the clock to let me know when battery is low, so need it to stay accurate. Anybody know how to fix this?

I downloaded Neutron, which is nice, but I still wonder why the built-in program is not working? Is there a way to uninstall and re-install the clock?

In my experience; most often the troubles while using the synchronizing feature in Windows originate from the chosen Internet time server being either too busy and/or not available for some reason OR your personal or network firewall prevents the clock synchronization.

Another problem that can occur is when the date set on your computer is inaccurate. Using the Windows clock synchronization feature; the Internet time servers will not synchronize your clock if the date is incorrect. If this is the problem, ensure that the date is set correctly in Date and Time Properties in Control Panel.

To answer your second question you cannot "uninstall" clock synchronization from Windows. There may be some "hack" available out there on the web showing how to do this but I would not advise doing this in any case. However you can disable or "turn off" this clock synchronization feature. You can get the instructions as to how to accomplish this here

Side Note: The program that you mentioned "Neutron" is a very useful freeware program and can be set to automatically start with Windows by dragging a shortcut to the Startup menu.

Recently it stopped working for some reason. I just downloaded a fresh version, yesterday, and all is working again. :cool
