Compaq armada 1750 cpu throttling.....

I just got a compaq armada 1750 laptop ( 6300/T/4000/D/M/1 ) the cpu throttles when im running on batts thats all good but it throttles the same way when running on AC... I DLed the compaq power managment software but i see nothing in it about CPU throttling.......Any one know how to stop this thing from throttling on AC ????

 

I took a look at that but im running win 98 se ( its only a 300mhz system ) i did a little googling and i dident find any thing ....

It works but doesnt every time i reboot something disables speedstep......I think its the comaq power managment software i instaled ....ganna uninstall it and try again.....

 

I enable speedstep it asks me to reboot i do and when windows reloads speed step is desabled again ........

 

Not that i remember seeing ....ill make another boot floppy and look again....

 

Not a thing ....I installed speedstep ( isent it for p3 and p4s only ?? ) i instelled the compaq power managment software nothing works...... any one ????? bump........

 

When nothing is running and im at the desktop it runs at 17 mhz ! when im playing games it runs at full 300 ( well 299.33 ) It just makes things feel sluggish when its throttling...what whould be the speedstep = for a p2 ?? I plan on putting a P3 650 in it soon ( it has a 440bx chipset and iv read that its an EZ swap )........

 

Ill take a look at some of thows PDFs after i install the reader...I called compaq and thay first said it was hardware failer....I called again and got somone else and she said that i need to reinstall the OS ( something i did not 3 days ago ) I dont think thay have a clue ......

 

Im not finding any thing .....

 

Someone PLZ help me this is driving me insane .....I cant look vary well online this thing is running at 75MHz when im sirfing and its running like crap and my desktop is dead till i get a new PSU ......ganna go to the library tommarow and get online thare and see what i can dig up ......

 

I cant find any thing ....Someone has to know somthing about this thing...bump...
