Compaq Deskpro Ticking Sound?

What is causing this constent ticking sound while running and can it be corrected..Its not the hd it knew..All opinions welcome

 

not the hd? sounds silly, but maybie a wire touching a fan.

does it come from your power supply? Motherboards dont tick, tick , tick.
must be a component..
Do you have a paper cup, cut out the bottom and use it on your ear to find exacly where the tick comes from :~)

Probably the speaker on the motherboard that is causing the ticking. Open the case, and this should help you better in diagnosing where it is coming from.

Then there is not much else, but maybe a modem, or bad power supply. You really need to isolate as much background noise in the room, and go from there step by step. Is this a ticking that sounds like metal expanding & contracting, or a tick, tick, tick sound that sounds like a cricket chirp?

 

its like a 2tick per sec tick....constant tick
