We have two identical computers. One of them disconnects from the cable modem. We have two different cable modems and I've tried them both and I get the same reaction. Having watched the lights on the cable modem, it showing me that the cable modem is not disconnecting. I've switched USB cables to see if that'll help recently, so I don't know. When the Cable Modem/Network closes out, it restarts within 1 to 5 seconds inconsistently.

    Hello :)
I would always suggest getting a PCI network card for your modem as it takes a little of the load off your pc... but as you only seem to be having difficulty with one pc...
Check your firewall settings - if you are using a decent firewall (sygate, kerio) then disable the Windows firewall as it can cause all sorts of network problems.
Tried giving the modem it's own USB port on the pc rather than sharing through a hub?

I had this problem before I switched to a router and had no need for USB. Try resetting your cable modem by taking out the power cord for 30 seconds or so and then power it back up. Wait for all the lights to stop flickering and then power on your pc. If the problem still persists try reinstalling the hardware and software, if it came with some.
