Hi everyone. I hope someone here can help me with this most annoying problem I have been experiencing. I dont know what info you guys might need so I will try to include anything that might be useful. My computer is almost 2 year old Dell desktop with Intel Core 2 Duo CPU 2.93 GHz processor and 8 GB Ram. OS is Windows Home Premium 7. About 6 months ago I had some sort of nasty virus. I had to take it to a professional and he ended up completely reinstalling my OS. Not long after I got the computer back it started to freeze up. It wouldnt do it all the time, only occasionaly and only when I was on youtube or when a website like espn that had videos that would automatically start playing. It has gotten progressively worse since, happening more often and now it happens even when Im just using Excel or something. The sound will start to almost sound like a stutter, the computer will be unresponsive for 1-3 minutes and then come back. Sometimes in the bottom right corner I get a message that says "Display driver Intel graphics accelerator drivers for Windows XP(R) stopped responding and has successfully recovered". I dont know what this means, but is it odd that it says "Windows XP" when I am running and always have run windows 7? Also sometimes when I am typing the letters will lag, or not show up at all. Is this related to the computer freezing/hanging?

Ok, I disabled everything at start up and rebooted. I installed CPU-Z but I was unsure exactly what info about the motherboard you needed so I took a screenshot and attached it.

Do you see any difference without start up items at boot ? You can give health/performance status like this

    http://hardverapro.hu/dl/upc/2009-05/187078_hdd_sentinel_2.jpg

is there any ? in Device Manager ( Start - Run mmc devmgmt.msc - Ok ) , what is the free capacity of your hdd ( Start - My Computer - right click to Hard disk C - General ) ? You can give your Service Tag ( i forgot about this before )

Well, my computer starts up a little faster after disabling the start up items. But I went to espn.com today and as soon as the page loaded and a video started to play the computer froze for about a minute and then came back saying "Display driver Intel graphics accelerator drivers for Windows XP(R) stopped responding and has successfully recovered". I attached the screenshot of the health/performance status. 559 GB used 359 GB Free on my HDD. My service tag is 8RVJNL1 and my express service code is 19099830565.

I followed your directions but I couldnt find "graphic device". Would it be "display adapters"? That says "Intel(R) G45/G43 Express Chipset". These are the hardware IDs it lists.

You need to use this tool

    http://majorgeeks.com/Driver_Sweeper_d6171.html

you must run it in normal mode
    restart your machine
you have to do the same thing in safe mode

cleaning up the leftovers of the driver ( Display adapters ) after that you can download this driver

    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?lang=eng&DwnldID=20598

you must save it , go to C:\Documents and Settings\Name\My Documents\Downloads

running the e.x.e file , when process is completed you must reboot your machine :wave

When running it, what should I select? There is a list of things to choose from. One says Intel chipset, one says Intel display, and then a bunch of other ones.

You need to install Intel display :wave

I ran driver sweeper, then ran it again in safe mode and downloaded the thing you told me to download and I got this error "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software."

My computer kept telling me there was a problem, so it asked me if I wanted it to update the drivers since I had deleted them and I said yes. Whatever driver was installed has not solved the problem. Within 10 minutes of restarting, it froze again
