computer lock-up during boot

repairing a computer that was having problems with RAM. Repaired OS put in different memory card and on start up when OS starts loading the computer freezes up and stops loading OS. Does any one have any idea what the problem is? All replies greatly appreciated.

Never mind. problem was that the older version P4 processor had a problem with service pack 2 on windows XP. had to download a fix from microsoft. everything seems to be working now. thank you for your time and thoughts. have a Happy and prosperous New Year.

 

Can you post said fix for others who have similar issues, when they do a search for this issue?

 

My son did the work and as soon as I can get the correct info, will share it with the world.
