I recently upgraded to Win10 from Win7, and I lost some files (photos, documents) and I am trying to see if they may still be on my laptop since I didn't delete anything. I found instructions on looking into the Computer management (see attached) but it isn't showing the Local Users folder that is supposed to be located where the red, arrow points in the photo.

Does anyone know how I might find these files? I can live without them, but I would rather have them, than try and reload etc. Ty much, Denise

If you are logged on with your standard user account try logging off and into the Administrator account you have and trying again. However you did say you had deleted the user account these files belonged to and if you confirmed during that process to delete the user's files too then you would need data recovery software to possibly recover them. Don't know where you are getting this advice from denise but there isn't any way Computer Management could help you to recover lost files. Save yourself some time and copy them from wherever you have them.

It's a program that searches your files to see if they could be restored so I said it to just search for photos jpg PNG and gifs gifs so it's searching for those on my hard drive

Denise, this is what you said in your other thread -

When I lost the file folders, I didn't lose any of my programs (.exe) applications, just photos, documents. But I have all of those on my old laptop so I can replace them if I want.

    That's your answer.

I made a mistake Earthling, I didn't delete the files. I simply wasn't looking in the right place.

Thank you for pointing out "what I said", and it shows me I best be very careful what I say in the future. I may make another mistake so I'm not sure I should post here again.

You are going through the learner curve Denise, we've all had to do it. You learn by trial and error and in the early stages it's mostly error. Keep asking away and if you are really interested your knowledge will increase exponentially and so will your enjoyment of it all.
