I noticed problem after installing Frostwire (which I immediately uninstalled). Computer hangs after two or more desktop toolbar items have loaded. All scans come up as no virus. Avast is virus program and Comodo is firewall. I did get a hit on several malware with Spybot and deleted those. Have tried reading the logs to determine myself, but am not familiar. If you could do a quick scan of them and advise me where to go. I did look at the other threads, but nothing seemed to relate.

You are not having malware problems. I suggest that you post in the Software Forum. You may want to try restoring your PC to a point in time before you first installed Frostwire.

Many thanks for taking the time to go through the logs. I didn't think it was malware, but couldn't be sure.

    thanks..

You're welcome. Did you try a restore point?

I did try restore, but the only date available was today's. In further investigation, the problem seems to stem from the fact that when I play COD4 Multiplayer, the computer will freeze after approximately 15 minutes. My computer has PNY (Nvidia Geforce 8800 Gt (single) video card and I have removed old driver and updated with latest...still to no avail. Still freezes. Was thinking about reinstalling COD4 but am hesitant to do so because of all the updating to get it back to update status (I have saved the 'profile' files in anticipation of doing the CoD reinstall. In researching, I find that perhaps MS updates for XP should be current. Even though I have auto update "On", I find that ms Service Pack 3 should be installed. I tried this last night but got message that "my computer would not allow the update". Still haven't figured that out. Thanks for the follow-up.

Then try the Gaming Forum or Hardware if you suspect a hardware issue.

You should post about this in the Software Forum as there have been issues on some PCs getting SP3 installed.
