Computer wont boot possibly because of virus

    so i was looking to download flv video and i kept trying to download it and avast kept blocking me from downloading it. i decided to turn off avast(bad idea) and when I downloaded the file my computer shut down. When i try to boot it up it only shows a black screen i tried typing F8 but that didn't work. Everything is unresponsive or seems to be...please help if you can

    operating System: Windows 7

    Not new, has been working great till now
