confirmation if everything is ok now

    realtime antivirus & antispyware protection

    for my antivirus needs I use Nod32 2.7. But the trojans still get thru. So nowadays do I also need a realtime spyware checker? So I would have Nod32 for viruses and SuperAntiSpyware both running in the background and slowing down Windows just to get all of the malware out of the way.
    Is there a more lightweight solution to this?

    You should work thru the below link:

    There is also the possibility that you are not removing all the malware....you may wish to
    follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.


    If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.

    Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.

    ashrack already started another thread where the logs were attached Tim so I moved them here. You will notice that they appear before the message you answered now.

    FYI: There is no sign of NOD32 being used.


    You have SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition installed. The free version does not provide any protection.

    @ashrack ...what is this:
    C:\Program Files\st?

    You do not have Nod set to run at startup ....you were lucky that the scans removed all of it. And I will repeat that you should work your way thru the link I gave you.

    Are you having any other malware issues?

    This has happened on my father's computer.
    nod32 was reinstalled right after I completed the Read & Run ME FIRST guide. That is why I am puzzled since NOD32 was installed and updated with the realtime scanning active but the malware still got in the system and naturally first disabled NOD32, System Resore, Firewall,... And probably my father wouldn't even know that it has a problem until the sound stopped working. That is when he called me and I started cleaning his PC.
    My question what good does an antivirus do if malware still penetrated his computer?

    will check into this.

    Every thread in the malware forum is someone infected who is running some anti-virus software ....from Norton to AVG. They all can get infected because it takes time for the programmers to respond to the threat.....which is why it is a good idea to run backup scans as often as the user feels it necessary ....which also would depend on the surfing habits and general usage of the user.

    Not a great answer for you, but it is pretty much the way it is. :(

    I agree if the malware was just released and the antivirus makers hadn't updated the database but in my case the malware was known and the databases were updated.
    I just checked the Task Manager and typed flec006.exe which was a process I was not familiar of and it led me to this page where I cleaned the malware out.

    So that is why I do not understand how could the PC got infected by a malware which was out in a wild for some time?

    ps. Father reports that the PC is running like a champ now.
