I'm doing some work from home today and trying to get on the internet from my work laptop so I can access the VPN. I've got online using this laptop before from other locations away from work: someone else's home, hotel, etc...

I have road runner cable modem at home. Internet connection works fine on my home PC. But, if I take the same cat5 cable that is plugged into my PC, and plug it into the laptop, I can't connect to the internet. I get the "limited or no connectivity" message. I don't get it. :banghead

    try this out quick

start - run - type cmd - hit enter
    type ipconfig/all
copy that into a post so we can see your ip configuration

me or someone else can help out from there. just need a little more info to see whats up.

strangely enough I got things working... I used my old linksys router (which previously I could not get work, then suddenly seemed to work without any changes) and have connected my laptop to the internet via wireless connection....

also,...why can't I edit my previous post? I'd like to change parts of it...
