I've recently got a wireless network for my laptop and the messenger just logs me off within a couple of minutes.

I didn't have this problem when using dial-up.

I'm currently using Windows XP default messenger version 4.7 and I've tried to install the newer version 6.0 but then 6.0 was even worse. It didn't even stay on for a minute.

I have disabled the windows firewall and I still had the same problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you so much.

Logs you out of just MSN Messenger or off the entire computer? I'm assuming you mean just the messenger, and in that case, I've been having problems just logging in today. Have you gone to Microsoft updates and installed any recommended updates that may patch some problems? Also, you may have a service disabled that MSN requries to maintain connectivity. Post back and let me in on a little more information as to what you mean by it "logs you out". Sorry I couldn't be of more help...

I've had this problem too.. it logs me out but it shows me still logged in. When I go to message someone it then says that I am not logged in.

    Thanks for replying back~

It only logs me off from the messenger and I'm using linksys Wireless-B Router.

    Anyone have this problem solved?

Sorry... I don't have it solved, but if Kodo's having the same problem, I wonder if he also has a router? I'm not sure if a router's built in firewall or access control list could block MSN Messenger from maintaining a connection or not, but it could very well be the problem. Let's see what Kodo comes up with...

I have router and those ports for MSN are open for it. By the way a router by its' very nature is a firewall ;)

It doesn't do this if I'm actively using the service, just if it's idle. The length of idle time is not a constant.
