converter drive for camera card - help!

New poster here, so be forgiving!

Laptop Dell Vostro running Vista. Son bought a digital concepts converter drive SD/MMC reader/writer because he lost his camera memory card adapter.

Supposed to read any memory card. Lights up but computer does not recognize
that it has a card already inserted. Asks for card to be inserted. Tried card both ways in reader...

Computer bar on top of display box shows download happening (green) but stalls
as it reaches the end. If I "X" out of "insert card" box it all stops...

Directions do not mention any driver except if using Windows 98...

Any ideas ? Thank you...

 

Check if the card is sd and not sdhc. Some card readers will not read sdhc cards.

My old card reader only reads sd cards so I bought a new dongle where I can insert sd and sdhc cards and it reads both. I tested under Windows 2000 and XP.

I can't find if it accepts sdhc cards.

Says on the package only a SD reader....

The memory stick is a Sony MagicGate memory Stick PRO Duo (1GB)

Description says" Designed especially for compact digital cameras and the PSP Handheld System" Does that mean this is a sdhc?

 

Sorry, I'm not familiar with Sony's memory stick.
I use sd (secure digital) and sdhc (high capacity) cards which are something completely different.

I think you purchased the wrong model. You have a model 35 and you need a model 30 for the memory type you are using
