    Hello MajorGeeks,

I have read the READ ME FIRST thread and followed MOST of the steps....however, Im hoping there is a quick easy solution to this problem.

Pandascan has detected 990 spyware cookies on my comp all in the same area....Ive run CCleaner, Norton AV, Spybot, CWShredder and Ad-Aware in SAFE mood but none of these detected anything.

All of the spyware is located in C:\Recycler\Nortonprotect. I tried to manually delete the entire Nortonprotect folder but couldnt (I clicked on My Comp..>...C...>...Recycler...>..and Nortonprotect) as a box came up saying the comp couldnt detect the specific file.

Ive included half a copy of my Pandascan text (too big for full).

    Any suggestions?

Thanks ahead of time for any replies

    Thanks for the timely response.

Even though Pandascan is listing these files under the "Spyware" detection they arent malware? Or it is Malware but this is more of a norton issue.....

I followed the instructions in the link you provided but unfortuantely, I cant run a Command prompt as this is what appears when I do:

A gray box in front of the bigger black background box that says:

    "C:\Windows\system32\command.com
C:\windows\sustem32\autoexec.nt. The system file is not suitable for running MS-Dos and Microsft applications. Chose "close" to terminate the application."

This actually started appearing on my comp about 2 years ago and was the initial reason I was directed to this site from an eq site.

So.....can I remove this garbage by UNINSTALLING Norton Systemworks and then reinstalling?

Thanks ahead of time for any replies.

First they are not really malware as they look to be primarly cookies. And personally I think this feature from Norton is a stupid idea that is a big PITA and if possible I would uninstall the feature completely.

Try the below first. Run which ever link applies to your OS.

For Windows XP Pro: download and run XPproFix
For Windows XP Home: download and run XPHomeFix

Then retry the procedure in the link I gave you in my last message. Hopefully this fixes your problem with the command prompt. Also it should be cmd.exe for Windows XP not command.com but either should work.
