Hi all. I recently aquired a little PC called a "BookPC Model Bki810" in trade for another PC, cuz it had some issues. Well, I found the problem with it ( 1 bad RAM stick), and it's now working amazingly fast for what it is. This PC is the size of 2 phone books stacked. Pretty cool.

It has a 20GB 7200RPM HDD, 256Ram, and a 500MHZ Celeron in it. Has onboard sound, video (w/S-video out, and composite video out), as well as 56K modem and Lan.
Very little tech info was found on the web about it, but here's a link I found to one just like it. http://www.reality.net/BKi810/photos.html

Ok, so onto the questions........I'd like to see if I can upgrade the processor in this baby, and make it even better.
It's a Socket 370 Mobo, with Intel i810 chipset base. I currently have a stick of PC-100, and a stick of PC-133 Ram in it (both 128's). The post screen recognizes them as such, and works great even with the 2 different ram sticks. It even works nicely with a PC-133 stick that I had laying around, that was never compatible with ANY PC I ever tried it in. So I'm liking this little puppy. LOL

In the bios, the following option settings are present:
    CPU Ratio: X3, X3.5, X4, X4.5, X5, X5.5, X6, X6.5, X7, X7.5, X8.

    CPU Host/PCI Clock: "Default", 66/33MHZ, 75/37MHZ, 83/41MHZ, 100/33MHZ.

I also have SDRAM Cas Latency Time setting choice of: 2 or 3

I'd like to put a Pentium in this PC.
Does it look like I could put a 1000MHZ Pentium in this mini box to you guys?
I know a 1000MHZ will require PC-133. Do you think it can run at 133bus, or will it only run at 100? (Judging by the available bios settings).

I'm just going to use it for a loaner, when I work on someone's PC. It's easy to lug around.
    Any input is welcome !!!!!!!

I think I have one of those right now, the same system. I believe it has a green chip Celeron, I upgraded mine to 933mhz and it is even faster now.
The bottom line is pull the heatsink off, if its a green chip celly put in a PIII what ever you have and it will be happy as a clam. If it is black chip you are on your own.

Mine has the black chip, with the medium size heat slug (not the small slug like on the green ones, and not the slug that covers the whole top).
Someone was selling one exactly like it on ebay, and in their description stated it supported Pent3 up to 850MHZ, and Celeron up to 700MHZ. So that's what got me to wondering. Of course, one doesn't know if the info listed on the ebay one is true :-/

To the best of my knowledge, black chips are not upgradeable, unless you have a faster black chip. The small slug green ones are interchangeable with PIII. I think the ebay guy had one like mine, most likely a green chip celly.

Do you think if I try a green chip 733MHZ Pentium in it, it could mess up the mobo? There's a ton of 733's on ebay for cheap. I wouldn't mind frying the processor just to see, but wouldn't want to fubar the computer.

No it will actually cook the chip. (I've done it) it will not work.

Cool. Thanks for the input Thesunscreen. I'll just leave it as it is, and find something else to tamper with. LOL I'm surprised there's someone else on here, that actually has one of them !!
I think the little thing actually runs super as it is.
    Thanks again for your help.
