Hi, I have the following instructions but have not figured out how to complete this. Need basic instruction on how to copy a file to replace another. Any help appreciated.

"copy ??????.EXE from step 1 into installed directory
(c:\Program Files\???????.EXE) - u will see pop up dialog ask u to replace existing file) - if u don't see this dialog u are doing wrong) and click ok."

    Thanks!!

    :)

I'm probably misunderstanding what you want to do, but basically copy the exe into that directory and overwrite the current one already there.

Is that what you want to do?

Better make a back up first... Rule #1 Before you go deleting or replacing anything make a copy somewhere else for back-up purposes just in case. Better safe than sorry.

Thanks T-Rex, I will do that. Now all I need is the "how to" from my original post. :)

    Thanks

Which OS are you using? curious but it doesnt really matter as the "how to" is the same anyway.

just right click on the file you are copying pick "COPY" from the menu that appears, then goto the location you want to copy that file to and right click and pick "PASTE" from the menu.

Then you will get the notice do you want to overwrite XXXXXX file click OK or YES and the new file will overwrite the file.

Thanks Halo, I had been trying the drag and drop method with no success.

Just for your info, when you "left click" drag and drop .exe files in win9x thru XP, the default action is "Create a Shortcut". To really move an .exe file to another directory with drag and drop, you must "right click", and when you "drop", a popup menu appears and you select "Move", or "Copy".
