Core Temp program is a key logger??

I downloaded and installed a program I downloaded from majorgeeks called core temp. It's suppose to just keep track of cpu temperature. I have a few security programs on my system and one of them caught core temp key logging. Why would a program for cpu temp monitoring need to do that ???

 

Most likely it's a false positive, Core Temp been downloaded 28,000 times and it's already on Kaspersky's "White List" Most likely since it monitors your PC it was reported. Not saying you could not have a keylogger, just saying you did not get it in a MG download.

 

I was using a program called threatfire. I know that core temp was keeping a log of core temps. but then I got a notice from threatfire that it was logging key strokes. Is this something that can be checked into by someone more knowledgable then me??

 

Threatfire isn't a traditional antivirus/malware app, and flags anything that monitors a system. It also sees the GRC Leaktest as a malicious piece of software, alerts you, then nukes it.

Threatfire can get carried away, and often.

 

Thanks for the info. I'll reinstall core temp then. I have the following programs on my system for protection/ security. Let me know if you think I'm overdoing it.

avast anti virus
commodo firewall pro
threatfire

Is there anything else I should install, like spybot or ad aware?
Not sure these days whats needed for good protection.
