I was moving files from my external HDD to my HD then my computer started freezing I'm not really sure what happend but I couldn't do anything and my external HDD files seemed to become corrupt because when I try to open certain folders it tells me I have to format my External HDD, then when I try to disk check it it tells me there are bad clusters in certain folders and it removes them but it doesn't do anything but tries to check the disk but doesn't let me check it when it restarts the computer.

I wanted to know if I had to format the whole drive or can I retreive my files before it formats.
