Couple of Related Problems

hi there,
having a problem with my sound card every since i downloaded SP2 for XP.
Basicly in the device manager it says the card is installed and working properly, but on volume control it says no audio device. (greyed out)
i've been trying to fix this for a few days and in doing so i seen that my Plug and Play Software Device Enumerator has a yellow icon beside it. (from what i've seen in other posts, i think this is related.)
i've tried to update the driver for this, but it just come up, not available.
i have the disk for my sound card, so i uninstalled it and reinstalled it. took it out and put it in a different pci port, but all to no avail.
any help would be great.
