    HI all.
My friend has a Gateway DX4822-01 with mother board "ACER G43T-AM"
About a week ago the CPU fan started to run fast all the time.
I plugged a different fan in and it also ran fast.
Has anyone else seen this problem and a way to fix it.

Are you monitoring the CPU temperature?

Sometimes after years going by, the thermal paste tends to degrade between the CPU, and the heat sink. It could simply be that it needs a fresh coat of Arctic Silver, or equivalent.

What temperature should it be running at?
It's running at 24c/75f and the fan is at 4272 rpm's.
