HELP! I'd greatly appreciate it please.

    Hiya..

Well recently I woke up and tried turning on my PC, little did I know it wouldn't start up and if it did I would get an error telling me that my settings or even bios / IDE has been changed, can't remember exactly. But if it did start up, it would either freeze when I get into windows(even on the XP loading bar screen it would freeze) or just not start up at all, if I managed to go further it would freeze eventually so I tried turning it on and was hoping for my luck that it wouldn't freeze, but at some point the CPU just wouldn't start up,power light is on but nothing on the screen.

I took it to a specialist and he said the motherboard isn't recieving data and that he will change it. He changed it, still the same thing I hear so he switched motherboards again and it still continued. He said it was the memory the next day, he switched that still no luck, he said it's the power supply so he switched that too.

After telling me it'll take 1-2 days it has been over 10 days now, now he says it's the processor because hes done every test possible on the motherboard/HD/memory/power supply/videocard and it still didn't fix the problem.

Question: I can't wait anylonger!! is it REALLY the processor or is there anything I can suggest because this is taking soo damn long and I really need the CPU for school this monday.

    Thanks guys.

if he really ruled out the mobo, the ram, and the power supply, then the next thing would be the processor. ask if he could put that processor in another working computer that supports that processor to really rule that out.

Sounds like you might have picked up some Malware, does not sound like CPU Problem. I would also suggest getting a new SPECIALIST Hope that helps

Yes i would definately agree....its got me beat how a specialist cannot rule out hardware failure before replacing it?

But i think i could take a guess!!!

detecting, defective hardware is really on a trial and error basis, swithcing parts with testing hardwares, this really takes up time, he could have not check for malware if the pc would not start properly except slave ur hdd to another pc and run a av scan. its just good to have a second opinion from another specialist, just give him a little credit lol

Any form of hardware or software analysis is a trial and error basis...if you dont have the time you should not be in the business!!!
    give me a break!

replacing old hardware parts with new willy nilly(and charging you for it) is not the trait of a specialist!

Sounds like a dying harddrive to me or malware, without the computer to test though its just conjecture especially without the exact error to look at,if the computer posts and you get an IDE error and your stuck on the post screen I'd bet money its the harddrive

I'd like to know what 'every possible' tests he's done on the harddrive

    Seconded

Agree 100%, looks like he tried all parts except the hard drive and still has the same problem, dont sound like a specialist to me. ed

Oops, i'm pretty sure I put up he tested the HD :p. But yes he has tried and tested the hard drive.

Apperently hes went through 3 mother boards, ran a test on the hard drive(Not to mention hes replaced my Hard drive and still the computer freezes at times).

He went out and bought the processor today, told me to call him tomorrow night(wednesday) and hopefully I get a good response such as "it's fixed, u can come pick it up tomorrow" or not the usual "i've found a new problem and I need a couple days to fix it, give me some time" lol.

So apperently hes tested / switched the Harddrive, Motherboard, Power Supply and the Memory, still freezes or won't start up. I'm not sure if hes tried putting the processor on another CPU yet but i'll suggest it, lol.

Edit: What I meant by "not starting up" was that everytime I would hit the power button, nothing would show up on the screen most of the times and if it does it freezes 10seconds-1minute into the startup, not to mention the power light kinda flashes and my fan sounds like a dead motor trying to regain power.. lol.

Soo....will I be hearing some good news tomorrow? ;\ I hope it's the processor.
