creating a simple website help

hello i have some free time and i want to create an HTML website forum,
i dont know were to find free forums though that can help me out and what to do wit them. I dont want anything huge like this one just a simple one. If it is not posible maybe i could find a free guest book somewhere, for people to leave there messages.

I also want to ask were should i upload my website files once i'm finished? i know there are free sites were u upload them but i dont know any, thanks for your help

 

A good (free) WYSIWYG editor is nvu : http://www.nvu.com/index.php
(What you see is what you get) those are good to learn from. Create a page then open the page in notepad and you can learn a lot of HTML that way.

You can get free forum software from http://phpbb.org or http://simplemachines.org.

The simple machines forum can be hosted for free with them I think. I'm not real sure, I would recommend getting a domain name and hosting and just learn it all as you go. Most of the people here were quite new to this stuff and some of the "Newer" programmers remember oh to well some of the difficulty you can encounter.

W3schools is great stuff for html.

If you want a free blog, or free blog software for your site http://wordpress.org has a nice blog. You can sign up and have one for free there or download the software yourself.

There is alot of free stuff, heck even ebay is offering blogs now.

 

Learning HTML is not enough for Forums. You also need to no php and and sql. Or you can download a forum from phpbb but you will need a webhost/or your own with php and a database type.

 

i found another rather good one. it is called E-Blah... just search it in google an there you go! it is free and there are themes and all kinds of other stuff you can get.

also if you want a reeeeally cheap web host 1And1.com is you best bet. Linux and Windows. lowest is $2.99 and that aso lets you have a FREE domain.
