Current Best Laptop????

My boss wants to buy a laptop for his son for Christmas.
He wants to keep it relatively inexpensive but doesnt want an unstable one either (want much?)
any suggestions?
The only thing he used his last one for was music and school
He had a hand-me-down previously that the mobo went out on
