I attempted to build a computer for my friends girlfriend with a budget. I went on newegg where i got the parts to build that last 15 computers and this is the first time I've ever had this problem.

I connect everything and turn it on and nothing happens, no smell, no lights, nothing. I assumed something was broke so I rma'd everything and newegg sent us new parts. The same thing happens, nothing. I hooked up a different motherboard to the power supply and the power switch jumpers and it turned the computer on fine, all the fans spun, the hard drive powered up. Reconnected the gigabyte 945gz and nothing again.

Maybe someone could help? This is a problem that's been plagueing me for over a month.

    here are the parts:
    Intel Pentium D 805 Smithfield 2.66GHz LGA 775 Processor Model HH80551PE0672MN - OEM

Hmmm. I'll start with this obvious thing....Were you certain that the front panel connectors were properly connected to the mobo? I once had an older case that confuse d me a bit and I had one of the power connectors in the wrong spot, making it unable to power up. Once I got it straightened out, all was good.

yes, I tried that, i tried actually putting it everywhere and every combination on the board. I think I might need someone w/ actual experience using this motherboard... ; /

    Ohh...I see what your saying!

Have you done your compatability homework? (im sure you have)
    ie...RAM etc.

That would be what i'd look at next!!!
Seems like you know about data cable connections etc.

Any error 'beep' codes on power up?
