Custom WordPress Installs

I am attempting to discover what the take is from the Major Geeks Community on what you think is the best "plug-in “OR pan for an anti-virus/anti-malware program for custom wordpress installs and developments?

I have found the 6scan plug in to be good however I recently have discovered a virus that came in from a file backup down load from the6scan program, it was a backdoor virus that came in from one of the files (specifically 404.php in a theme folder) not from the program itself, but I was surprised that the program didn’t alert me of the threat of it or that or that it was even there.

I guess I need more of a protection plan and some good advice.
