I have an old Hard Disk that i was thinking of using as a External USB Drive.

Can i power this via the USB from the PC or do i need a Power Supply?

Also what other Componets do i need. I know i need a fan for cooling.

I was thinking of making the Enclosure myself.

    Thanks :)

Is it a 3.5 or 2.5? 2.5 or laptop drives can be powered off USB, 3.5 can't.
You can build a case, what are you thinking? connecting via USB?
There are plenty of cheap cases out there, but you'll need some sort of IDE/SATA to USB connector, or eSATA...
I was going to build a drive cases out of an old SCSI CD-Rom duplicator, just put a USB hub and some USB drive bays, never got it off the ground, moved on...
