    Dear MajorGeeks,

    First, I want to thank you for all your help. You are amazing.
    This is a pc with windows xp. I was able to run in safe mode, RogueKiller, Malwarebytes, hitmanpro and mgtools. However, When I restarted the computer, the virus was still there. I restarted in safe mode once again, because I wanted to send you all the logs, but everything had disappear including the programs.
    Your help is always greatly appreciated.

    Let's at least get MGTools.exe run again, attach the MGlogs.zip.

    Dear Kestrel13!

    Thank you so much for your answer.
    I was able to create a new user and ran Roguekiller again, log attached.
    I also ran malwarebytes, unfortunately, I didn't copy the log to my flash drive immediately. Then I proceeded to run hitmanpro and that brought the virus again into the new user and everything went blank again. I proceeded to run MGtools from the original user side, log attached. I got the following messages white running MGtools: Message 1 - Hijack this write access was denied to the location you specified. Try a different location -
    Message 2 - System information access is denied -
    I was able to get the log from Friday too (attached).
    Screen is black - no icons - but at least on the original user's side I can get the control panel.

    Thank you!

    Before we continue I would like for you to use MSConfig to put this machine back into normal start up mode

    Then you also eed to get into normal boot mode (NOT safe mode) for this next part if possible!

    Uninstall the below:
    • Ask Toolbar
    • Java(TM) 6 Update 26
    • Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_03

    I want you to run TDSSKiller so refer to the below for how to do so.

    TDSSkiller - How to run

    Download and run OTM.

    Download OTM by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.

    • Right-click OTM.exe And select " Run as administrator " to run it.
    • Paste the following code under the [IMG] area. Do not include the word Code.

    Code:
    :Files
    C:\WINDOWS\is-EFUKT.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\is-EFUKT.lst
    C:\WINDOWS\is-EFUKT.msg
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\-A6PRVFQnSpJat1
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\-A6PRVFQnSpJat1r
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\A6PRVFQnSpJat1
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\A6PRVFQnSpJat1.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\hkpLyQOvOGk.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\Alan\Application Data\wmscal.dll
    C:\DOCUME~1\ALLUSE~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\mswmkovp.com
    C:\Windows\Installer\{2658b498-6ba4-7707-74e1-e88f71197b40}\n.
    C:\Windows\Assembly\GAC\Desktop.ini

    :reg
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentVersion\Run]
    "hkpLyQOvOGk.exe"=-
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentVersion\RunOnce]
    "InnoSetupRegFile.0000000001"=-

    :Commands
    [emptytemp]
    [Reboot]
    • Return to OTM, right click in the Paste List of Files/Folders to Move window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
    • Push the large [IMG] button.
    • OTM may ask to reboot the machine. Please do so if asked.
    • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar), and paste it in your next reply.

    NOTE: If you are unable to copy/paste from this window (as will be the case if the machine was rebooted), open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and attach the contents of that document back here in your next post.

    Please download and save the below to your Desktop or anywhere else you can find it ( if the Desktop is not showing )

    http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/grinler/unhide.exe

    Run it.

    Now run RogueKiller again the way you did before, and attach the log.

    Reboot your machine and install the most current and up to date version of Java available here at the below link:

    Java Runtime 6

    Run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista or Windows7) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

    Let me know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now!

    Dear Kestrel13!,

    Thank you so much for all your instructions. I tried my best to follow each step. However I have to say it wasn't easy. To run some of the programs, I had create new users. Since I had to run some of these programs with new user name the hidden files came back to that user. When I signed on with the actual (original) user, I had to run the unhide.exe again in order to recover all icons, desktop etc. Everything is looking pretty normal.

    I am attaching the logs for your review.
    I have no words to show my appreciation and respect I have for all of you

    Thanks,
    monita

    You had to create new user profiles on the computer to run some of the tools? :confused This will do no good as I need to be working on/with the affected account! :)

    You need to explain exactly what you ran on the AFFECTED account and which tools you made new profiles/accounts to run.

  7. monita

    monita Private E-2

    I am afraid I ran all the tools under new user profiles. I did tried doing it on the affected account, however the virus wouldn't let me do it. It would take over the screen and I couldn't even remove the ask bar or java. I'm so sorry :cry
    Do I need to run all those programs on the affected account now, that I have the possibility? Please let me know.

  8. monita

    monita Private E-2

    I apologize. I answered half of the question. Using "sodoma" I ran OTM, RogueKiller and unhide. I am not sure under which profile I ran TDSSkiller :cry

    This is so embarassing.

    There's a zeroaccess infection.

    So which account(s) are there issues with? Which username?

    On the affected account, I would like for you to re-run TDSSKiller and have it fix this, that you previously skipped:

    Attach the new log for me to see.

    Now, next, I want you to try and run Combofix as per these instructions.

    If you cannot run it in NORMAL mode, then please rename combofix.exe to b7YtC.com and boot into safe mode to try again. Let me know what happens. If you are successful, please attach the Combofix log.

    Dear Kestrel13!

    I thank you for not giving up on me. The user name is Alan. I followed your instructions. I am attaching both logs.

    Once again, thank you!

    OK monita, let's keep moving along. :) We're making progress now. All the time focussing on the Alan account still, I want you to run:

    • RogueKiller --- and attach the log.
    • Malware Bytes --- and attach the log.
    • MGTools --- and attach the log.

    Dear Kestrel13!

    Thank you!

    Attached are the logs you requested. I also took the liberty of attaching the Malwarebytes log of June 22nd since now I can see it

    My sincere apologies for my lock of knowledge and understanding of your previous instructions.

    Looking forward to your advice.
    Thanks,
    monita

    [IMG] Fix items using RogueKiller.

    Double-click RogueKiller.exe to run. (Vista/7 right-click and select Run as Administrator)
    When it opens, press the Scan button
    Now click the Registry tab and locate these 3 detections:
    • [SUSP PATH] HKCU\[...]\Run : Akedbyeddy ("C:\Documents and Settings\Alan\Application Data\Uperyd\niat.exe") -> FOUND
    • [SUSP PATH] HKUS\S-1-5-21-3336395765-4045610545-638810996-1006[...]\Run : Akedbyeddy ("C:\Documents and Settings\Alan\Application Data\Uperyd\niat.exe") -> FOUND
    • [ZeroAccess][FOLDER] U : c:\windows\installer\{2658b498-6ba4-7707-74e1-e88f71197b40}\U --> FOUND
    Place a checkmark each of these items, leave the others unchecked.
    Now press the Delete button.
    When it is finished, there will be a log on your desktop called: RKreport[2].txt
    Attach RKreport[2].txt to your next message. (How to attach)

    Now we need to use ComboFix by sUBs

    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box. Ensure you scroll down to select ALL the lines:
    Code:
    KILLALL::

    Folder::
    c:\documents and settings\Alan\Application Data\Sytoma
    c:\documents and settings\Alan\Application Data\Azaf
    C:\Documents and Settings\Alan\Application Data\Uperyd
    Registry::
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
    "Akedbyeddy"=-
    [HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-3336395765-4045610545-638810996-1006\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\run]
    "Akedbyeddy"=-
    [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes\{FBA85F1D-5A8E-461F-AA2B-03DAF3EBAA27}]
    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe

      [IMG]

    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below

    Note:

    Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

    If after running Combofix you discover none of your programs will open up, and you recieve the following error: "Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion". Then the answer is to REBOOT the machine, and all will be corrected.

    Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista or Windows7) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

    Let me know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now!

    Dear Kestrel13!.

    Thank you for your new instructions.
    When I ran RogueKiller, I found and checked the first 2 items you wanted me to delete. The third Item I couldn't identify it.
    Other than that everything went well. Attached are the 3 logs (RogueKiller, Combofix and MGTools)

    Looking forward to hear from you.

    Thanks,

    If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders
      related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
        for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
