Data Recovery Suggestions...

Hello there,

HP reformated my hard drive (long story) and now all of my data is gone from the hard drive (no backup plan was in place). They referred a data recovery company who quoted around $1500-$1800 to recover the hard drive data.
I won't pay that amount for the data, but was wondering if I should give it a shot myself by purchasing data recovery software. Should I even bother or do you feel the data more than likely will not be recovered if it was reformatted?

If I have a chance, what sw do you suggest. I see many here on the site, but is there one specifically for reformatted hard drives?

Hi

Its a very very long shot and you will need any external drive, USB, USB/SATA external Hard Drive, internal 2nd HDD or possibly DVD RW to recover to as if you recover to the source driver your'll be overwriting the next lot of data to be recovered.

many of the free ones "could" recover data so long as you not re-installed anything on that drive, but as I say its a long shot with the tools available for many, the specialist as you have been quoted by have much more specialist software, but still worth a try.
