data retrieval...help!

Here's one for you. Old computer wont boot in any mode other than safe mode. I cant burn off my files, and the machine wont let me use the mouse. My question is this...is it better to move the hard drive to a new machine or to try an re install windows me which it was running on...and is there a risk to moving the hard drive? Thanks for any help you can give....

 

Before resorting to drastic measures, remember this, you can always recover if you can get into safe mode.

What you need to do is try to remember what you di or were doing when this problems started. For instance, did you install anything new, such as hardware or software?
