Delayed write error when connecting IPOD?

Hi,

I try to connect my ipod and i get the delayed write error. I have re-installed iTunes with the latest version and tried plugging my ipod into different usb ports.

I dont mind if i loose everything on my ipod however i dont want to wipe it and then not be able to transfer any new files.

I have checked the other posts related and the same things seems to happen but with hard drives? The portable hard drive feature is not enabled on my ipod.

I don't know what to try next... help!

Ps not sure whether this is a hardware or software issue so please move post if needed.
