When playing this game, the monitor just automatically turned black. I pressed a button on it and it said it was in Power Save mode, and it told me to press a key or move the mouse. When I did nothing happens. It interrupts my gaming. Anybody know a way to disable it?

I'm having the same problem with any OpenGL or DirectX game using my E193FP hooked up to a Radeon 9700 Pro. Updated the display driver, the video card driver to no avail. Even running Catalyst Control Center causes a VPU crash. But if I switch to my old 17" CRT everything works fine.

Hate to break it to you - but dude, you got a Dell.

Not just a dell problem. many monitors with power sae do weird things when switching modes. I had a monitor drop to power save when trying to get a compaq rompaq update. It was dos based. I don't know if there is a solution to your problem, I can tell you buying a new monitor is not gauranteed to solve the problem.

For LCDs, the refresh rate does absolutely nothing. Therefore it will not likely solve your problem.

Are you using the drivers that came on the CD you got with the monitor? If so, you might try removing them and using the regular old Windows Plug and Play Monitor driver. I've got a 20" Dell LCD and have never had that problem.

Wyatt Earp, you mention that you have a 20" dell lcd. I have been looking at the dell 2001FP and am wondering if you will give some input on it. Does that screen size work well for web pages and other images? Do some images become compressed when fitted to that screen? Are there times when that screen size is too much, and you don't use all of the screen? How is the text quality, the contrast? To what extent is the brightness adjustable, can it be turned way down? I see mixed reviews on gaming performance and movies; what is your experience? Thanks!
