    Problems with PC having Norton, IE7 and other programs crashing. Started at Malware and could not detect any problems. Went to software and could not find anything. It was suggested to run MemTest. I did so and had 330 errors before I finally got it to 100% test. Obviously, it did not run long, only seconds, before encountering problems. What is the best way to proceed to from this point?

    errors = bad memory
    Replace memory

    If its under warranty, contact Dell (they'll have you run some tests over the phone as well). If its not under warranty, replace it with appropriate memory.

    I recognize that I need new memory, but is there anyway to determine if only one of the RAMs is bad or both of them?

    Yes, install each stick by it self, then run mem test.

    So, How can I tell if the problem is both of the RAM or that they are good and the motherboard is bad. I don't want to go spend $$ on RAM only to find out that the motherboard is toast.

    Same answer as ASUS in your original thread in software ...

    Minor problem, the 8250 requires two memory sticks to be installed in RIMM1 and RIMM2 and a continuity stick in both RIMM3 and RIMM4. It will not boot up with only one memory stick. Suggestions?

    Either way your going to have to spend money for new RAM, just replace them both. Buying one or the other is not recommended for the simple fact if you get one that runs at a different MHz or Latency then the computer won't run up to par and could start problems as well.

    Be aware that RDRAM isn't cheap though. You'll be paying a pretty penny for both sticks but you do really have a choice aside from getting/building a new system (which may be cheaper anyway).

    Regardless, good luck.
