Dell Inspiron 3500 Sound issue

    I have lost the sound on my Inspiron 3500 laptop. I have tried removing the drivers and re-installing them. Any ideas on what else to try.

    I still have a problem but got sound to work. Recently I installed the most recent version of windows media player 9. I did not check it after install for sound after the install. I uninstalled it and have sound, but no sound icon in my system tray. It is running Windows 98SE.
