I have an older Dell Inspiron E1505 lap top that when I close the lid the screen goes black. When I return and open it the screens still black and I have to turn it off and restart. Is there anything I can do to fix this?
    Thank you for any help.

It sounds like the button that the screen touches to turn off the display is stuck in the down position. It would be located close to where the display hinges are located. See if you can move it to the up position and have the display come on.

The hard fix would be to take the laptop apart and examine the button.
