Desktop icons taking more time to appear

hi friends,
I am new to this forum.

My computer was ok last night but when i opened it in morning it took more time to open and after opening it took about 8-10 sec. to show my desktop icons,having some irregular edges with background color.

I scanned my comp. with ad-aware,housecall.trendmicro and by hijackthis in SAFE MODE. this is my new hijackthis logfile-

doesn't sound like a spyware problem to me. your log looked fine.

thanks kodo for your quick reply but why desktop icons take time to appear on starting of my comp.when i refresh on desktop one flash of icons color appear .
I don't know what should i do ?
should i install any windows latest service pack and other update ?
Pls guide me how can i do it(which one and from where ? )

did you take a few minutes to read the article in the link I posted above?

 

yes , i have tried it but i have window xp home edition, so unable to do it

i have tried system restore too but it also failed

this tweak is not specific to XP pro.. it will work on HOME as well.

have you monitored what items are starting up when your system loads the desktop? i.e. how many programs?

Also, can you tell me if when the desktop loads, do you see your start bar at the bottom before the icons build or is it such that the entire desktop including the start bar delays as well?

 

1.yes kodo, i see start bar at the bottom before the icons build and it takes about 10-15 sec. to load icons.
2.i have monitered but there is no other program start automatically.

3.i have attached some of my desktop pics here , pls have a look at their edges( irregular ).

sorry man, long day...had school tonight. it's hard to see what you're referring to in those pictures. It would be better if you could hit the PRNTSCRN key and paste the image into ms paint or some other photo program. If it's too big to upload, you can send it to me (kodo at majorgeeks dot com).

When your icons are building, is your hard drive still working frantically?

My computer is now running fine but start bar comes earlier than icons, which you asked earlier, takes about 8-10 sec. to build,having some irregular edges with background color( pls have a look on my e icon, some yellow folders and net meeting icon)


and when i refresh my desktop , all icons disappear and at the same time a flash appears with my icons color .

Also, what color depth are you using?
