Desktop/taskbar Hijacker

Hi i have been infected (once again) with a desktop hijacker and a taskbar hijacker (the symbol of a yellow triangle with a "!" in the middle exactly like the forum thread)). Another agressive advertising program written by someone who should be castrated in my opinion . i can temporily solve the problem of the desktop hijacker by turning it off in control panal display desktop web tab. however the taskbar i cannot do anything with it keeps informing me i have no adequete spyware protection on my pc (kinda ironic really) and gives me popups telling me the same thing. I have scanned my pc with hijackthis v 1.99 but i know very little on this level! help would be greatly apprectiated from someone more knowledgeable than myself,

I have already tried the scanners and adware removal tools recommended by yourself but still no success.

Edit by chaslang: Unrequested, Inline, incomplete log deleted. Please follow forum guidelines and read and perform the sticky threads. Do not post HJT logs unless requested, do not post them in line, do not cut anything out of the log like you did, and make sure you install HijackThis to the proper folder.

My operating system is windows XP, AMDathlon 2400 xp, 512 ram, 100 gig harddrive, ati radeon 9500 gfx

this really needs to be on the spyware specific board. then follow all the steps in this thread (on that board).

p.s. be patient (it may take a while to get your results). also don't post your hijack results (like you just did), there's another thread on the spyware specific board that covers that as well. - sos

Now, please follow ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal

If you already have any of the programs linked in the tutorial please double check your version to make sure you have the latest one and that you have any/all updates for the programs.

NOTE: In order to resolve the issues you are having it is very important that you at least try to perform all the steps as outlined. If you have any difficulty please post back letting us know what steps you have completed, what you found while doing the scans if anything and details about any problems you have encountered in completing the steps. The more details you can provide the better.


After doing ALL of the above if you still have a problem:

Make sure you have HijackThis 1.99.1 and follow the guidelines on where to install it and how to post a log as an attachment. This is all covered in the sticky thread NO HIJACK THIS LOG FILES BEFORE READING THIS: HJT Tutorial & LOG File Posting

Now post a HijackThis log as an attachment to your message (Do not post the log inline). All running programs should be closed, including your web browser, e-mail. Close before running Hijack This!

To repeat: Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file. Place it in its own folder, for example C:\Program Files\HJT
