device manager says no audio device

    hp pavillion , p4 processor, 1gb memory. Device manager shows the drivers, but says no audio device. Tried different set of speakers, same results

    Is the audio device enabled in the computer bios?

    I'm not with that pc right now. I'll check tomorrow and let you know. I did'nt think to check in the bios. Thanks alor

    sorry for not getting back; had to place wife in hospital. I did check the bios, but it was good. However I did find the problem about an hour ago; MB has about three capacitors split open. Time for new pc looks like.Thanks for the help shnerdly
