difference between an amd64 venice 3200+ and amd64 winchester 3200+?

What exactly is the difference between these two processors (besides the price)? They seem to be the exact same with their specs (same L2 cache, clock speed, etc). Found them on newegg.

 

the only difference i believe is one has a winchester core and the other a venice core. I believe the venice core is better and runs cooler but am not sure. i think its just someting to do with the architecture of the CPU. i am also not too sure why there are different cores out there...

 

Venice runs cooler? It's cheaper than winchester though lol

There, the second and third one are venice and winchester.

 

I think the Venice is the newer of the two, and it also supports SSE3 in addition to SSE/SSE2.

They can also be overclocked more, and have additional memory dividers.

So in other words, get a Venice if you can.

There is nothing wrong with the Winchester, but the Venice is a better choice.

 

Then...LOL why is Winchester 50 bucks more?

 

I don't know why it's more, there could be many reasons, and most may be unrelated to features or quality.

However, don't take my word for it, check the Newegg link you posted.

Under Multimedia Instructions, only the Venice supports SSE3 as I stated.
