If I leave the house and want to disable my computer without shutting it off---what is the difference from locking the computer and logging off? Do programs still run, etc.? Windows 7 Ultimate. Googled and cannot seem to find an answer that satisfies my curiosity. Thanks for explaining this to me. I have set up a password to get in.

locking the computer leaves any programs running and open that you have running, logging off logs the user account out of the pc and closes any running programs.
