Digital River Links for Windows 7 Gone?

It was just a matter of time, since MS already shut down Win 7 .iso downloads from the Digital River site itself. However, links to the site from other sites were working for me until today. I noticed that now it appears that these links are dead. I have NoScript, so I decided to post links to the pages with the downloads in case someone else would care to test to see if this is true. I tried with NoScript off, but I would like to be sure. Here are the pages that had working links for this:

Neither one of these is working for me.

Both seem to work fine. ;)

All the more reason to have them labeled and stashed away on an old HDD.

    Just as I feared...

Why doesn't MS just leave these up? There are plenty of freelance techs whose installation disk wear out and so on, not to mention, it's perfectly legal to install the version of Windows that was on a PC when it was purchased.

Well, if I ever have to go find a copy of Windows 7 for a PC with a legit key for someone or something, I'm not going to feel bad about going to find it wherever I have to go (as long as the download is free of malware o/c)...

Even the Windows 7 Forums links have been disabled. :(

Just for the record, I have another link that can be used in an emergency to download an .iso of Windows 7. Here is the link:

    http://dreamsupport.us/downloads/windows-pc/-Windows7

Just enter the username and password on the password dialog that pops up.

There are also downloads for Vista and Windows XP here at this site location. Just substitute "WindowsXP" or "WindowsVista" at the end of the link. All the versions of each of the OSes are here. This site is dedicated to helping make sure techs have access to the tools they require.

    OK...

Milling around on another site I ran across mention of a new link MS is apparently using for Windows 7 .iso downloads. Here is the link, which wasn't working for me this morning:

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-recovery

I was, however, able to view the cached page by Googling the above site address, and it looks very nice and legit. If this is their new way for making .isos of Windows 7 available, I give my thumbs up to MS. Here is the page cache in case anyone else is having difficulty getting into the site:

    http://webcache.googleusercontent.c...s/software-recovery+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us

The cache snapshot was taken this morning, so it is new (not a old one), indicating the site must have been up earlier. Anyway, I am getting used to using Ghostery, NoScript, and BetterPrivacy in Firefox, so maybe that's why the regular page link wouldn't work for me this AM...

Yeah seemed a few websites started listing the DR download links, and as soon as MSFT see a spike in downloads they investigate and will remove at times.

I just hope they go the way of Win8 download of ISO with Win10 as with serial key you can get it anytime.

OK...seems like the .iso link is now functioning for me on the MS site.

Both the links in your original post are working - in Internet Explorer 9 and Mozilla Firefox 33. I checked 5 minutes ago.
