Does anyone know how I can disable the autodetect new hardware and auto search for drivers in windows XP pro?

I am trying to install my new TV tuner and the installation program keeps being interrupted by windows auto-features, chrashing my system....

could anyone help me out so i dont have to search for the feature myself?

    thanks

I can't tell you how to disable this A@#%$%%* function, however I was able to install my Creative drivers thus

    Boot into safe mode F8
    Delete driver
    Insert your CD and
XP should ask you where to d/l driver from when you reboot. and send it to your CD.

    HTH
